According to Mike Puma of the New York Post, Mets’ third baseman David Wright is headed to Triple-A Las Vegas to continue his rehab.

Wright, 35, has not appeared in a big league game since 2016, but finally began a rehab assignment earlier this month with Single-A St. Lucie.

Mets’ co-general manager John Ricco said Tuesday, however, that a promotion to the MLB this season seems unlikely, as Wright still needs more time and only joined Vegas due to rehab clock coming to an end.

The Virginia native appeared in 10 games for St. Lucie, going 6-for-32 with two RBI and two walks.

Wright had taken his second day off in a row yesterday, but it was chalked up to normal maintenance.

It still remains to be seen if Wright will get enough rehab time in before the minor league season ends, but this is certainly a step in the right direction, and the highest level Wright will have played at since 2016.
