Last night during the SNY broadcast of Mets Hot Stove, David Wright who was a guest had plenty to say about the collapse, his gold glove, and his future with the Mets.

The most telling part of his interview was when he was asked about what the Mets needed most. His reply was "Johan Santana would be a nice start, and Dan Haren wouldn’t be so bad either."

I hope Omar was watching…

Speaking about David Wright, last week several internet sports sites and Mets sites falsely reported that Omar had a conversation with David Wright about switching positions. Apparently that was not the case.

According to the Daily News…

David Wright joked Monday that he still doesn’t own another mitt besides his third baseman’s glove.

Apparently, he felt no big rush to call in an order to Wilson or Rawlings after a certain free agent superstar "did not get brought up once" in a conversation Wright had last week with Mets GM Omar Minaya.

"It was more to say hello and to just tell me, ‘Hey, be prepared to be the third baseman in 2008.’ That’s what I took from it and that’s the way I’m going about my business," said Wright, who was visiting NYU Medical Center yesterday on behalf of his charitable foundation. "I just wanted to let Omar know in no way, shape or form does he have to go through me about anything.

"His job is to make the trades, sign the free agents, and my job is to go out there and play. I told him I want to win, first and foremost, but as far as talking about changing positions, talking about Alex Rodriguez, that name did not get brought up once in the conversation."

Wright also went on to say that he had not spoken to Paul Lo Duca in a few weeks and that he did not have any sense if the feisty catcher and good friend, would return to the Mets in 2008.
