Mets slugger David Wright played catch and took some ground balls from his knees yesterday, a welcomed first step in his recovery process. This was the first baseball-related activity Wright has done since going on the DL in Mid-May.

Wright said afterwords that he “felt good” and he will see a doctor late in the week to hopefully get the green light to begin his rehab in Port St. Lucie.
“It’s weird and disappointing that I can’t go out there and play. It’s something where I can’t physically go do something to quicken the process. I just have to wait it out and make sure the bone heals correctly before I start amping it up.”
If he gets his clearance, that still means he has a long recovery process before he is back in Flushing.
“You don’t just get clearance and then hop in the game in Texas the next day, but I’ll probably go to Florida and start stuff down there,” Wright added. “But that would still be a step forward.”
Hopefully, when Wright ultimately returns, he will come back the five-tool talent he once was, and not the one or two dimensional Wright we saw to start this season.
