This Sunday should just be renamed Cy Young Sunday. Fans in attendance at this Sunday’s game between the St. Louis Cardinals and the hometown New York Mets are in for quite the treat. It was announced on Thursday that both Jacob deGrom and Max Scherzer will throw in Sunday’s grapefruit league matchup between the Mets and Cardinals at Clover Park.

DeGrom and Scherzer were recently ranked as the No. 1 and No. 3 starting pitchers respectively in baseball by MLB Network.

The game will be televised on PIX11

The full rotational schedule for the Mets this weekend will be as follows:

But the featured rotational matchup that is the key story is Sunday’s combination of the two Cy Young award winners, deGrom and Scherzer. The two have spent quite a bit of time together this spring and it will be a treat for baseball fans to watch on Sunday at Clover Park in Port St. Lucie. Will deGrom throw a first pitch curveball again? It only seems right with the inside joke between deGrom and Scherzer. But we will find out Sunday.
