michael cuddyer

Left fielder Michael Cuddyer left the game in the bottom of the second inning after he was hit by a pitch right on the hands by Phillies starteer David Buchanan.

Cuddyer was in obvious pain as he held and shook his left hand. Terry Collins and trainer Ray Ramirez came right out and quickly decided to remove him from the game.

Kirk Nieuwenhuis replaced Cuddyer on the bases and took over in left field.

The Mets are calling it a contusion for now.
