3:00 Update:

Atlanta acquired right-hander Ryan Dempster from the Chicago Cubs, as first reported by MLB.com’s Mark Bowman. The full terms of the trade have yet to become available, but ESPN.com reports Randall Delgado could be heading to Chicago.

Dempster was among several highly coveted pitchers rumored to be on the trading block ahead of next Tuesday’s trade deadline. He is currently in the final year of a four-year, $52 million deal, and according to reports, the Braves did not require him to sign a contract that would keep him in Atlanta beyond the end of the season.

The right-hander leads the majors with a 2.11 ERA and recently reeled off a streak of 33 consecutive scoreless innings.

The Cubs and Dodgers are also discussing a trade that would send right-hander Matt Garza to Los Angeles for a package of players including highly-regarded pitching prospect Zach Lee according to Jim Bowden of ESPN.
