Ashes, Ashes, We All Fall Down…

Every season has a defining moment.

If the bandied about revamped bullpen that was billed as the one sure-fire strength for the 2012 season was the crowning achievement of the offseason, then it’s abysmal failure is the number one storyline of this season.

The defining moment?

That’s probably the indecision and precious time wasted in not addressing this problem before it all came crashing down.

So far in July, some teams made moves, while others made excuses. Now with only a week left to the deadline, it won’t be long until the front office shows its true colors and proclaims themselves as sellers, which is what I’ve said would happen all along.

The delay in addressing the team’s problems was not about it being too early or too pricey, it was about waiting until the last possible moment to see if this team could justify the undesirable stance of being buyers which was something the front office never expected to be this year.

Now, with the team still not out of it, but undeniably weakened, the voices will say we’re a below .500 team, of course we should be sellers. And so it goes…
