Lost in the great finish to Jacob deGrom‘s historic season on Wednesday night was Michael Conforto continuing his great September with his ninth homer of the month and reaching base three times.

The eighth inning homer by Conforto was the career-high 28th of the season and the major league leading ninth in September. He also hit his 25th double of the season, walked and knocked in his 82nd run.

Conforto is hitting .309/.385/.691 for the month of September and is striking out only 19.3% of the time (lowest of any month in 2018).

The strong second half from Conforto (.928 OPS) has boosted his overall 2018 slash line to .246/.353/.456 in 621 plate appearances. His fWAR is at 3.1 and bWAR up to 2.8, pretty remarkable given his slow start returning from serious shoulder surgery and playing 58 games out of position in center field.
