michael Conforto

Michael Conforto continued his incredible hot streak last night despite the Mets 9-3 loss to Miami. Conforto was one of the few bright spots for the team as he finished the game 2-for-3 with a double and a walk.

In his last 28 games, Conforto is batting .341 with six home runs and eight doubles. This performance has raised his season average to .297 to go along with seven home runs and 22 RBI in 128 at bats. He also has an outstanding .925 OPS.

It’s truly been a remarkable season for Conforto, who started the year in Single-A. He skyrocketed up the Mets’ minors since being drafted in the first round last year,  and he forced Sandy Alderson and the front office to call him up a lot sooner than anticipated.

Conforto batted .297 with 12 home runs in 91 games in the minors this season.

It’s amazing to think that only a few months ago there were fans who were afraid to call him up. Not only has Conforto held his own at the major league level, he’s excelled.

He’s now emerged as a key player on a playoff team, and he looks like he will be a tremendous core player for years to come.
