Andy Martino of SNY reports that the Mets are looking at Indians’ GM, Mike Chernoff, as an option to be the Mets’ next GM.

Chernoff, 37, has been the Indians’ GM ever since the end of the 2015 season after the team promoted Chris Antonetti to Director of Baseball Operations.

Notably, Chernoff has worked with both Antonetti and Blue Jays’ GM Mark Shapiro, who have strong ties to Omar Minaya who is playing a key role in determining the team’s next general manager.  Also, his father, Mark Chernoff, is the VP of Programming at WFAN.

Mickey Callaway also worked under Chernoff while he was still the Indians’ pitching coach.

Martino further mentions that the team has not backed off on the idea of outside candidates such as agents Brodie Van Wagenen and Casey Close.

Lastly, he mentions that the team does not view Oakland Athletics’ GM, David Forst, as being in the running at the moment.
