Yoenis Cespedes has looked great at the dish and more importantly healthy since the All-Star break, so when he left Saturday’s game Mets fans collectively thought, “Not again.”

The 31-year-old outfielder attempted to make a sliding catch in the sixth inning but his cleat got caught in the outfield grass, leading to him coming up awkwardly.

Cespedes exited the game, but the Mets downplayed the injury.

“I doubt he’s going to be in there tomorrow, just as a precaution,” Collins said after the game. “But he did feel something in his hip, so I just took him out, and we’ll see where he’s at tomorrow.”

This isn’t the first time that Cespedes has had an injury scare this year.

Cespedes just returned from the disabled list on June 10 after missing six weeks with a strained hamstring, so to be concerned is only natural.

But the six-year veteran said he is almost 100 percent and feels the best he has since April.

“I have a little discomfort in my hip,” Cespedes said through a translator. “But the doctor said there’s nothing serious going on.”

“I think I could have definitely kept on playing. it’s just because of the score of the game we just decided to play it safe,” he continued.

On Friday, Cespedes had a big night at the plate going 4-for-6 and had a base knock in Saturday night’s contest before departing.

“That All-Star break helped me a lot. It was really nice to be able to rest that many days,” Cespedes said through a translator Saturday prior to the game. “I would say that if I’m not already at 100 percent, it’s really not much till I get there.”

So we will have to see with Cespedes, but until he’s out there playing again and is completely healthy, everyone will be holding their breath.

“I don’t think it’s real serious with Ces’, but certainly if he’s out any period of time we’ll just have to do the best we can,” Collins said.
