According to Mike Puma of the New York Post, the Mets are one of four teams that have a chance to sign Yoenis Cespedes as a free agent. According to the report, Cespedes hopes to finalize a deal in early December.

Sandy Alderson said last night on his interview with WOR, that Cespedes had reached out to the Mets via text to express his interest in returning to the team.

Puma did not name who the other four teams were. In an earlier report, Joe Trezza of MLB.com named the Phillies, Yankees, and Nationals were three teams interested in the All Star slugger. There have also been reports that the Miami Marlins could attempt to sign the Cuban star especially in the wake of Jose Fernandez‘s death.

Since being acquired from the Tigers, Cespedes has played 189 games for the Mets hitting .282/.348/.554 with 48 homers and 130 RBI. This year he was named to his second ever All Star team (first time elected as a starter), and he won his first Sliver Slugger Award.
