According to multiple reports, the Mets will not fire Mickey Callaway today. Matt Ehalt of Yahoo Sports tweeted that there will be no managerial change today, while Deesha Thosar of the Daily News confirmed that Callaway will hold his pre-game press conference as usual.

These reports come on the heels of yesterday’s clubhouse meltdown. Callaway reportedly cursed out Mets’ beat reporter Tim Healey of Newsday, while Jason Vargas reportedly threatened to fight Healey.

Tensions were running high as the Mets blew the series finale in Chicago in heartbreaking fashion. Seth Lugo surrendered the game-winning homerun in the eighth inning to Javier Baez, which dropped the Mets’ record to 37-41.

We will keep you updated as new details emerge, but it appears that Callaway’s job is safe, at least for today.
