Tim Healey of Newsday reports that the Mets will be activating Jay Bruce from the paternity list on Tuesday and Dominic Smith will be sent back to Triple-A as the corresponding move.
Bruce missed the last two games for the birth of his second child, Maxwell.
Smith was recalled this weekend in place of him and only registered one at-bat, in which he struck out as a pinch-hitter.
He appeared in both of the team’s games, but Jose Reyes got picked off during his at-bat on Friday.
Healey also reports that Buddy Baumann is heading to back New York with the team after being optioned to the minors this morning and will be recalled once Jerry Blevins is placed on the paternity list.
