Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports that Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo has been completely shut down from baseball related activities for the next month. This news comes days after Joel Sherman of the New York Post reported that Brandon Nimmo was receiving a second opinion from Dr. Robert Watkins in California.

Brandon Nimmo has been dealing with what has been diagnosed as a bulging disk in his cervical neck for two months. On April 13, Nimmo originally injured his neck running into the SunTrust Park wall to make a catch against the Atlanta Braves.

After initially playing through the injury, Nimmo was placed on the 10-day IL on May 25. On June 6, Nimmo began a rehab assignment in St. Lucie. A few days later his rehab assignment moved to Syracuse. He was scratched from their lineup on June 14 after two games.

This comes as a tough blow to the Mets, who had plans on having Nimmo their leadoff hitter early on in the season. In 43 games, Brandon Nimmo has only hit .200/.344/.323 with 48 strikeouts in 161 total at-bats.
