New York Mets’ on-base machine Brandon Nimmo continued his recent rampage at the plate Tuesday night, going 3-for-5 with two RBI’s, coming up a double shy of the cycle.

Batting leadoff for the sixteenth time this season, Nimmo began his night with a screaming liner that was caught by the third baseman.

The resilient Nimmo came up to the plate in the third, looking to straighten out that swing in his second at-bat.  And he did just that, blasting one over the right-center field wall for his fourth homer of the year.

Leading off the Mets’ half of the fifth, Nimmo got on base for the second time on a triple. Unfortunately in classic Mets’ fashion, he was stranded on base and did not score. In the seventh, Nimmo once again hit the ball hard, but lined out to center field.

Finally, in his last at-bat of the night, Nimmo grounded a ball through the hole on the right side of the infield into right field, scoring Billy Hamilton for his second RBI of the game, and his eighth of the season.

Nimmo, who has been doing his job of getting on base all season long, has absolutely exploded in the last 10 games.

On August 8, he was slashing .217/.419/.326, and since he has gone 11-for-37 (.297) with nine walks, two home runs, and two triples, bringing his season average up to .253. Nimmo’s recent power surge has brought his slugging percentage up from .326 to .481.

Among all players in the National League, Nimmo ranks in the top 10 in on-base percentage (.431) and runs scored(18), while he continues to lead the league with his 22 walks. All of this should cement him in the leadoff spot for the remainder of this season.
