As per Tim Healey of Newsday, New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo (bulging cervical disk) continues to feel the effects of the neck injury he’s been dealing with since April and will visit “more specialists” in, presumably, the coming days.

Mets skipper Mickey Callaway filled reporters in on the 26-year-old’s progress ahead of Sunday’s series finale versus the St. Louis Cardinals, telling the media corps that Nimmo’s “still dealing with the same issue”.

Nimmo was scratched from his rehab start with Triple-A Syracuse just before game time on Friday and has been out of commission since May 20.

He originally suffered the injury in a crash into the outfield wall on April 14 in Atlanta and left in the first innings of the Mets’ game in Philly on April 16.

The Wyoming native addressed the injury with Anthony DiComo of MLB.com in late May, seemingly looking forward to getting back on the field.

‘I’m 26 years old. I had never had neck problems like this before. I take really good care of my body and try to prevent [injuries]. So I was just like, ‘Man, why does this keep happening?'”.

Nimmo’s hitting .200/.344/.323 over 161 plate appearances this season with a .301 wOBA, 90 wRC+, and 48 strikeouts.

We’ll keep you updated with new information as it becomes available.
