On the day that the Mets announced the 2023 season was over for Jeff McNeil with a partially torn UCL and two days after Starling Marte’s 2023 season was officially ended, center fielder Branon Nimmo left the game early with a shoulder issue. Nimmi exited before the fifth inning started with an issue with his AC joint in his right shoulder.

Mets manager Buck Showalter said that the x-ray on Nimmo’s shoulder looked good, but that the outfielder would get an MRI on Friday. Showalter left it open that Nimmo could wake up on Friday and feel fine. “I’m not expecting that, but I’m not going to rule it out,” Showalter said.

Nimmo is enjoying a fantastic season coming off signing an eight-year, $162 million deal to finish off his career playing entirely for the Mets likely. Nimmo is hitting .273/.362/.466 with a career-high 24 home runs and 68 RBIs. The game on Thursday also gave Nimmo a career-high 152 games played after setting a career-high with 151 games played last season.
