The Mets have traded Kirk Nieuwenhuis to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in return for cash considerations, reports Adam Rubin of ESPN New York on Twitter.
Nieuwenhuis, 27, hit at a .079/.125/.132 clip (3-for-38) this season for the Mets before being designated for assignment last week.
After a nice campaign last year where Nieuwenhuis appeared in 61 games and hit .259/.346/.482, and a solid spring training where he hit .322/.412/.407, Nieuwenhuis just couldn’t get it going for the Amazin’s in the regular season this year, and will take his talents to Anaheim.
