The middle infield duo of Carpio and Gimenez made their first start together in the Arizona Fall League, a tandem that has been quite popular over the past few years in Binghamton, Port St. Lucie, and Columbia. They did not disappoint racking up four of the team’s nine hits on the day with Gimenez driving in three of the Scorpions four runs. Gimenez’s first RBI came in the top of the third inning on a line drive base hit up the middle that scored Carpio from second base. His other two RBIs came with the bases loaded in the top of the ninth inning on a ground ball single the other way.

Ryley Gilliam was the only Mets pitcher used in the game and for the second appearance in a row, two unearned runs scored against him thanks to an error as right fielder Trey Harris turned a fly-ball out into a triple for Angels top prospect Jo Adell. The error would have been the second out in the inning, but next batter would end up scoring Adell on a sacrifice fly. Zack Short would follow that up with a solo home run to left field
