With his 15th home run Monday night, Pete Alonso set yet another Mets rookie record. He needed just 46 games to record the 15th homer of his career, reaching that tally 25 games faster than any other rookie in Mets history. David Wright and Ron Swobody each reached that milestone in 71 games.

With those 15 home runs, the 24-year-old also tied the record for most home runs by a Mets rookie before the All Star Break – and it’s just May 21st. Swoboda shares the record for now with 15, with Ike Davis (11), Benny Agbayani (11), and Johnny Lewis (10) in their rear-view mirror.

The Mets rookie record for home runs was set by Darryl Strawberry with 26 in 1983, Alonso is already over half way there before the start of June.

Alonso has lived up to the hype so far, slashing .259/.344/.590 with 15 home runs and 35 RBIs so far this season. While other Mets struggle around him, he keeps destroying baseballs to further show he belongs in the Bigs.
