7065.jpegIn 2006 we loved him, in 2007 we gave him a free pass, in 2008 he became a loathsome figure in the minds of many Mets fans. Of course, I am talking about right handed reliever, Aaron Heilman.

I really don’t believe Heilman will be a Met by the time this weekend rolls around. Several teams are very interested in him, and Omar is working the phones.

Omar Minaya left some of us scratching our heads when he pulled out of a trade last week, that would have sent Heilman and Pedro Feliciano to the Rockies for former A”s closer, Huston Street.

It’s not that Omar has no desire to trade Heilman, he just just knows that if he plays the waiting game, he can get more for him.

Jon Heyman, reported last night that the Mets spoke with the Arizona Diamondbacks for setup man Jon Rauch. The D’backs have had interest in Heilman for quite some time.

Also, the Heilman for Street negotiations are back from the dead. Omar Minaya is back at the negotiating table with the Rockies as reported by Peter Gammons of ESPN. The Rockies continue to pursue Heilman even though Minaya pulled a pending offer off the table.

Jason Stark of ESPN, believes that the Mets are still considering a deal that might send Heilman to the Cubs for starting pitcher and local product, Jason Marquis.

The bottom line is that Heilman is being aggressively shopped, and he could be traded within the next 48 hours based on my gut feeling.
