The Mets were shut out by the Phillies on Thursday, falling 3-0 despite Nolan McLean twirling a gem. The offense failed to provide any support, managing just four hits on the night. To make matters worse, Jared Young, one of the few bright spots of the Mets’ 2026 season, was carted off the field after a collision with McLean.

Anthony DiComo of MLB.com had a further update on Young, reporting that a CT scan came back negative. Young reportedly has “full use of his extremities” and has “avoided the scariest outcomes.”

New York broke a scoreless tie with four runs in the fourth inning, via a Dave Magadan RBI single and a Howard Johnson three-run homer off Greg Maddux. Rick Anderson tossed five scoreless innings and John Mitchell and Randy Myers combined to finish the final four innings. Kevin Mitchell also had an RBI single in the seventh, driving in the fifth run.
