Morning Briefing: Holmes Makes First Rehab Start

Good morning, Mets fans!

Clay Holmes took an important step toward returning to the Mets on Friday night, making his first rehab appearance with Triple-A Syracuse. The right-hander pitched 2 1/3 innings, allowing two earned runs on three hits while walking two and striking out two. Holmes threw 51 pitches, 28 of them for strikes, as he continues his progression back to the major league club.

Holmes had a 2.39 ERA in nine starts this year before going down.
