Good morning, Mets fans!
Will Sammon and Tim Britton from The Athletic report that multiple teams are expected to show interest in Clay Holmes, despite his fractured fibula. As a result, the Mets are reportedly considering offering him a midseason extension, and Holmes has expressed a willingness to remain in New York. Retaining the 33-year-old beyond 2026 could provide much-needed stability to a rotation that has several uncertainties, rather than risking his departure in free agency.
Holmes has already proven that he can perform well in the New York market and would be a valuable addition to a rotation that raises numerous questions moving forward.

Not all news coming from Queens was positive, as Mark Vientos was placed on the injured list with a fractured hand after being hit by a pitch from Michael Wacha during the series finale against Kansas City. Vientos is expected to miss significant time and was considered a potential trade candidate. Although his overall statistics have not been strong, he has performed well against left-handed pitchers this season and could have served as a valuable trade asset for a team in need of right-handed hitting help.
