Shortstop Antonio Jimenez went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk and a stolen base Wednesday in Low-A St. Lucie’s 5-4 loss to Jupiter. It was his third consecutive multi-hit game. He is an eye-popping 9-for-13 with two homers, three doubles and three stolen bases in the three games.
Jimenez was a third-round pick last year out of the University of Central Florida and started his first full pro season at High-A Brooklyn. But after going 12-for-97 (.124 batting average) over 24 games and getting injured, the organization demoted the 22-year-old to St. Lucie upon his return. He is the team’s No. 15 prospect on MLB Pipeline.
