The Mets swept the Tigers with a 9-4 win on Thursday, their first sweep of the season. A.J. Ewing hit his first career homer, while Brett Baty, Mark Vientos, Juan Soto and Marcus Semien also went deep. Nolan McLean struck out seven over seven innings to earn the win as the Mets improved to 18-25 after winning seven of their last 10 games. For more on this game, check out our recap.

Steve Gelbs reports that the MRI on Francisco Lindor‘s calf has shown signs of healing, but there’s still no timetable for his return. Mets manager Carlos Mendoza says that Lindor will move towards the strength training portion of his recovery.
Anthony DiComo of MLB.com notes that Mets catcher Francisco Alvarez had surgery for his torn meniscus. He reports that the team expects Alvarez to be on the longer end of the recovery timetable, which slates him to return sometime around mid-July.
MLB Pipeline posted its biggest risers on its Top 100 prospects list, and most notably, Ewing has the largest jump at +44, putting him as the 34th-ranked prospect on the list.
Former Mets shortstop José Reyes received a rockstar welcome in Lindenhurst on Wednesday. Students at William Rall Elementary cheered, screamed and rushed to greet the former Mets All-Star as Stop & Shop unveiled its 100th food pantry in a New York school. The celebration featured Mr. and Mrs. Met, a $10,000 donation, fresh produce giveaways, and the opening of the school’s new “Rall Community Cupboard.”

The Tampa Bay Rays released a statement regarding their Memorandum of Understanding for their new ballpark. The team reached a tentative agreement with Hillsborough County and the City of Tampa on a proposed $2.3 billion stadium deal. Supporters believe the stadium would bring major economic benefits, which was noted in the MOU, while opponents question the cost to taxpayers. Final votes on the agreement are expected next week ahead of the Rays’ June 1 deadline.

2014: Jacob deGrom made a strong debut against the Yankees, pitching seven innings and allowing only one run. Despite his impressive performance, the Mets lost the game 1-0. DeGrom would later finish the season with a record of 9-6 and a 2.69 ERA, earning the National League Rookie of the Year awards.
