While the Mets managed a walk-off against the Tigers, four of their five minor league affiliates took a loss today, with the St. Lucie Mets dropping both games of a doubleheader. Elian Peña stole a pair of bases in the first game of their two-part affair, and Yovanny Rodriguez crushed his fifth home run already at the Rookie level for the FCL Mets.

Nick Lorusso also left the yard for a solo shot, and Kevin Parada’s RBI double completed the scoring. Eli Serrano and Jacob Reimer each had two-hit days of their own.

Some strong work from the Binghamton bullpen highlighted the day, as Ben Simon, Matt Turner, and Brian Metoyer combined for four scoreless innings. Metoyer shut the door for his second save of the year. Bryce Conley picked up the win after getting through five innings.

HIGH-A

Rome Emperors 4, Brooklyn Cyclones 3

The Cyclones only mustered three hits in total and struck out 16 times as a team. John Bay earned the sombrero, going 0-for-4 with four strikeouts. The Cyclones fell to 8-26 on the year.

Jonathan Jimenez was wild, but effective in five innings of bulk relief on Wednesday. Nine men reached base against him, but he was able to keep the Emperors off the scoreboard. The four runs charged to Cristofer Gomez, however, were enough to keep the Cyclones out of the win column. Parker Carlson, Garrett Stratton, and Dakota Hawkins combined for some more scoreless work out of the pen.
