The Braves are bringing back their closer Raisel Iglesias on a one-year $16 million deal.

The team announced the deal Wednesday night, for what will be Iglesias’s age-36 season.

Iglesias returns to the team for which he has performed admirably since being traded to Atlanta in 2022. The Braves’ righty struggled out of the gate in 2025, pitching to a 6.75 ERA in his first 25 outings, but from June 9th on, he was back to his top form, pitching to a 1.25 ERA to close out the season.

Iglesias is the first major reliever to come off the board this off-season. Earlier this week, Mets closer Edwin Díaz declined the qualifying offer the team sent his way, leaving the team currently without their star at the back of the bullpen.

ESPN’s Jeff Passan floated the possibility of the team pairing Díaz with Devin Williams to form a dynamic duo to close out games. Now with Iglesias officially back in Atlanta, one potential Díaz replacement or stablemate is off the table and back with a division rival.
