They continued to improve their bullpen on Wednesday when they acquired submariner Tyler Rogers from the Giants and hard-throwing closer Ryan Helsley from the Cardinals.

The Cubs have acquired former utilityman Willi Castro from the Twins, Jon Heyman reports. Chicago is sending prospects Ryan Gallagher and Sam Armstrong to Minnesota.

5:25 PM – Rangers Acquire Kelly

The Rangers have acquired veteran righty Merrill Kelly from the Diamondbacks, Jeff Passan reports. The Rangers also acquired RHP Phil Maton

4:34 PM – Padres Bolster Lineup

The Padres are acquiring All-Star first baseman Ryan O’Hearn and outfielder Ramón Laureano from the Orioles, Jeff Passan reports. Left-handed pitcher Boston Bateman is headed to Baltimore as part of the return. San Diego has been very active today – they currently sit just three games back of the division-leading Dodgers in the NL West.

4:07 PM – Astros Reunite With Correa

The Astros have agreed to acquire their former number one overall pick, Carlos Correa, from the Twins, per Jeff Passan. Correa recently said he would be willing to waive his no-trade clause for a trade back to Houston. While he’s made a living as a shortstop, the three-time All-Star is expected to play third base with Isaac Paredes likely out for the season.

2:50 PM – Yankees Add to Their Bullpen

The Yankees are nearing a deal to acquire two-time All-Star closer David Bednar from the Pirates, per Jeff Passan. Catching prospect Rafael Flores headlines the return for Pittsburgh, according to Jon Heyman. Also heading to the Steel City are catching prospect Edgleen Perez and outfield prospect Brian Sanchez.

12:40 PM – Tigers Adding Pen Help

The Tigers are acquiring closer Kyle Finnegan from the Nationals, per Ken Rosenthal. It’s the third bullpen piece the Tigers have traded for in the last 24 hours; they previously traded for former Mets Rafael Montero and Paul Sewald.

11:25 AM – Welcome to A.J. Preller Day

The Padres have acquired star closer Mason Miller and lefty starter JP Sears from the A’s for one of baseball’s best prospects, SS Leo De Vries. The Padres will also send three right-handed pitchers to the A’s: RHP Braden Nett, RHP Henry Báez and RHP Eduarniel Nuñez.

Multiple reports now say the Padres are willing to move starter Dylan Cease.

9:40 AM – Blue Jays Get Pitching

The Blue Jays are finalizing a trade for former Cy Young winner Shane Bieber from the Guardians, per Jon Morosi of MLB. Morosi reports the Guardians will get pitching prospect Khal Stephen.

9:07 AM – Robert to Padres?

The Padres have emerged as a team to watch for White Sox outfielder Luis Robert Jr., according to Mark Feinsand of MLB. Feinsand mentions that both the Phillies and Mets remain in the mix for the talented Robert.
