A.J. Ewing fell a home run short of the cycle for the St. Lucie Mets in their victory, while the other affiliates all fell on the day. Francisco Alvarez caught eight innings for the Rumble Ponies in his rehab outing and had a solid day at the plate.

Triple-A

Buffalo Bisons (4-9) vs. Syracuse Mets (6-9) POSTPONED

The Buffalo Bisons/Syracuse Mets game was postponed due to inclement weather. It will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Friday, April 18th, starting at 4:05 P.M.

Double-A

Reading Fightin Phils (5-6) 7 , Binghamton Rumble Ponies (3-6) 4

BOX SCORE

  • C Francisco Alvarez *REHAB* 1-for-4, 2 RBI (3), BB, K (1.413 OPS)
  • SS Jett Williams 1-for-5, 2B, R, RBI (4), 2 K (.709 OPS)
  • 1B Ryan Clifford 2-for-4, 2B, RBI (3), K (.733 OPS)
  • CF Nick Morabito 2-for-5, 2 2B, R (.544 OPS)

The top of Binghamton’s lineup provided almost all of the offense, led by a rehabbing Francisco Alvarez. Kevin Parada is off to a rough start for the season, going 0-for-4 on the day with three strikeouts, lowering his OPS to .405.

  • RHP Jonah Tong (6.00 ERA) 5 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 6 K (57 of 84 pitches for strikes)
  • RHP TJ Shook (5.40 ERA) 2 IP, 3 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 2 K
  • RHP Douglas Orellana (1.93 ERA) 1 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 1 K

Jonah Tong has yet to round into the same form that saw him skyrocket up prospect rankings in 2024, allowing six hits over five innings while walking two. Tong has walked seven batters in his first nine innings, striking out 11. While Tong was saddled with the loss, TJ Shook didn’t do him any favors, allowing three runs on three hits while walking two in his two innings of work.

High-A

Aberdeen IronBirds (6-5) 2, Brooklyn Cyclones (7-3) 1

BOX SCORE

The Cyclones only managed five hits on the day, and those five hits were split between three players. On a positive note, Jacob Reimer looks to be fully healthy after an injury-riddled 2024 season and hit his first home run of the season to give the Cyclones their only run of the game.

  • RHP Noah Hall (1.23 ERA) 5 IP, 2 H, 2 R (1 ER), 3 BB, 7 K (53 of 84 pitches for strikes)
  • LHP Ryan Ammons (0.00 ERA) 1 IP, 2 K
  • RHP Ryan Lambert (1.80 ERA) 1 2/3 IP, 4 K

Noah Hall was wildly effective, striking out seven over his five innings. The IronBirds used aggressive baserunning in the first inning to execute two double steals of second and home to account for all of their runs on the day. Ryan Lambert continued to mow down batters with his big velocity, striking out four in his 1 2/3 innings, giving him 11 strikeouts and no walks over five innings pitched this season. The Cyclones’ bullpen held Aberdeen to 0 hits and struck out seven over the final three innings.

Low-A

St. Lucie Mets (6-5) 5,  Tampa Tarpons (5-6) 1

Box Score

A.J. Ewing finished a home run short of the cycle on Wednesday and continues his hot hitting for St. Lucie while playing a solid centerfield. Jeremy Rodriguez continues to impress at such a young age, notching one hit and stealing a base.

Nate Dohm was outstanding yet again, allowing one run in five innings while striking out six. He has allowed fewer than a hit per inning and held batters to a .209 average. Frank Elissalt has been a nice surprise, a 19th-round draft pick for the Mets in 2024. Elissalt has struck out 12 in 6 2/3 innings while holding batters to an anemic .136 average.
