After a rough outing on Friday night, Mets starter Kodai Senga thrived in Thursday’s 10-3 blowout victory over the Washington Nationals.
He lasted 3 2/3 innings, allowing no hits and no earned runs while striking out six batters and walking two.

The Nationals struck early, taking a 1-0 lead in the first inning. CJ Abrams led off with a walk and stole second before scoring on a throwing error by catcher Luis Torrens after James Wood reached on a dropped third strike.
The Mets took a 2-1 lead in the second inning when infielder Luisangel Acuña lined a two-run single to right field with bases loaded, driving in Brett Baty and Luis Torrens. Francisco Lindor followed with a sacrifice fly to center, allowing Jose Siri to score, making the score 3-1.
New York’s offense stayed hot in the third inning, with Pete Alonso hitting a line-drive single to right field before Torrens tripled on a fly ball to right field, driving Alonso home. Following a Baty strikeout, Siri singled to center field after on a ground ball, allowing Torrens to score, extending the Mets lead to 5-1.
In the fourth inning, Torrens tacked on a two-RBI single, driving in Acuña and Juan Soto, who both singled earlier in the inning, before Baty got in on the offensive party, bringing in Jesse Winker on an RBI double, followed by a two-RBI Siri double allowing Baty and Torrens to score, giving the Mets a 10-1 lead.
Following Senga’s successful outing on the mound, Daniel Juarez entered the game for the Mets, throwing 1/3 innings and allowing one hit before José Buttó entered the game to kick off the fifth inning. Butto tossed one inning, allowing three hits and yielding one earned run. Following Buttó, Max Kranick tossed two scoreless innings, allowing only one hit while striking out two.
Tyler Zuber pitched the eighth and ninth innings for the Mets, allowing two hits and one earned run.

The Mets travel back home to host the St. Louis Cardinals at Clover Park. Opening Day starter Clay Holmes (1-1, 1.29 ERA) gets the nod from manager Carlos Mendoza, while Michael McGreevy (0-0, 1.54 ERA) takes the mound for St. Louis. First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 PM EST.
