Overview

Drafted in 2022, Jacob Reimer experienced a year of growth as a 19-year-old in his first full professional season. He made it up to High-A Brooklyn, posting a .774 OPS with a 14.8% walk rate over 419 plate appearances.

Unfortunately, Reimer suffered a hamstring injury late in the spring of 2024 and didn’t make his season debut with Brooklyn in late July. Four weeks later, Reimer was placed back on the injured list, and he played in just two more games during the season. The 20-year-old played for the Scottsdale Scorpions in the Arizona Fall League after the season, batting .208/.371/.359 with two homers, 13 RBIs, and 15 walks against 13 strikeouts in 70 plate appearances.

Eric Longenhagen of FanGraphs wrote about Reimer in May of 2024, “Reimer lacks a real standout tool, but he does a little bit of everything. He has the arm and actions for third base (though his instincts aren’t great), and he can grow into having something close to an average hit and power tool.”

Reimer clubbed eight homers in 2023, but the Mets didn’t get to see what he was fully capable of in 2024. He’s shown excellent plate discipline at each level he’s played at and only has an 18.6% strikeout rate as a pro. While he’s mostly played third base, Reimer got his first look in left field in the Arizona Fall League.

2025 Outlook

Reimer will likely begin the year in Brooklyn. If he stays healthy and performs as expected, Reimer should make it up to Double-A Binghamton at some point this season. He seemed destined to reach another level in 2024, but health will play a major role in determining what the next steps are for him.
