Good Morning Mets fans!

The trumpets will soon be blaring again.

Edwin Díaz. the Mets struggling closer, will be activated from the injury list on Thursday, manager Carlos Mendoza told the media Tuesday.

Díaz was placed on the injured list on May 29 with a right shoulder impingement. He has thrown a pair of rehab games with the High-A Brooklyn Cyclones, both of which concluded without Diaz yielding a run.

After missing the 2023 season, Díaz was amidst his worst season with Mets since 2019, his first in New York.

The 30-year-old has a 5.40 ERA this season, which led Mendoza to opt for a closer-by-committee approach prior to the injury.

Now that he’s had time to recalibrate, maybe the two-time All-Star can return to being one of the sport’s most dominant relievers.
