The Mets and Nationals game originally scheduled for Monday night was postponed due to rain. The teams will make it up with a doubleheader on Tuesday.

After being swept by the Braves over the weekend, the New York Mets returned home to Citi Field to attempt to attempt to turn things around on Monday night against the Washington Nationals, but mother nature had other plans as Monday night’s game was postponed due to rain/ inclement weather.

The Mets announced that they will play a straight doubleheader on Tuesday with the first game scheduled to begin at 4:10 p.m. ET.

Cory Abbott (0-4, 5.11 ERA) was scheduled to pitch on Monday for the Nationals against Carlos Carrasco (15-7, 3.95 ERA) for the Mets; they will now wait until Tuesday to take the mound. Carrasco struggled in his last start against Miami. He lasted just three innings and gave up four earned runs on six hits (one home run), taking the loss for the Mets. He, like the Mets’ offense, will now be looking to bounce back and have a strong performance on Tuesday.
