The National League East title is not out of reach yet. The Miami Marlins defeated the Atlanta Braves 4-0 to keep the Mets in the hunt.

The Mets current elimination number for the division is one, meaning any Braves win or Mets loss would give Atlanta the division.

The Mets did not play on Monday with rain in Queens postponing their contest against the Nationals until Tuesday. The two will play a doubleheader starting at 4:10 pm to make up the game.

Prior to the rainout, Mets manager Buck Showalter said he had all the faith in the world that Marlins manager Don Mattingly could get his team to sweep Atlanta. So far he’s a third of the way there.

Marlins pitcher Jesus Luzardo went six innings, allowed four hits, and struck out 12 Braves. Bryan De La Cruz went 3-for-4 with three runs batted in and two runs scored.

Braxton Garrett (3-6, 3.56 ERA) will start for Miami tomorrow with the Braves starter listed as to be determined.

Whoever does not win the division will be the No. 4 seed in the playoffs and host the Wild Card against either the San Diego Padres or Philadelphia Phillies.
