Good morning, Mets fans!

Evan Drellich of The Athletic continued his coverage of the week of meetings in Jupiter between MLB and the MLBPA. He reported that there was progress today towards a deal, specifically regarding the amateur draft order/lottery.

Rob Manfred was seen on site today for the first time of the week, and met with MLBPA leader Tony Clark. Drellich reported that Manfred will be meeting with the players themselves tomorrow.

However, with progress came a small downside. MLB cancelled Spring Training games now through March 7. The longer the lockout goes, the more games will be cancelled.

Drellich reported that while yes there was progress Friday, there are still a few major issues that remain. The biggest of all remains the competitive balance tax, which the two sides reportedly haven’t budged on yet.

Unofficial MMO lockout writer Rich Sparago provided the latest on the lockout by summarizing day five of negotiations in Jupiter.

The deadline that MLB set before they begin cancelling games is February 28.
