The Cubs announced they’ve claimed outfielder Johneshwy Fargas off waivers from the Mets.

Fargas was designated for assignment earlier this week when the Mets needed to add pitchers Stephen Nogosek and Anthony Banda to the 40-man roster.

The 26-year-old Fargas was 6-for-21 with three doubles and a triple for the Mets this season in seven games. Fargas started a few games for the Mets in May before he hit the injured list with a sprained left AC joint.

Fargas had been playing with the Double-A Binghamton Rumble Ponies at the time of his DFA.
