Good morning, Mets fans!
After an 8-4 loss to the Nationals in DC on Monday night, the Mets will look to bounce back as they head down south to begin a three-game series with the Braves on Tuesday. Atlanta is coming off a series split against the Reds this past weekend.
The Mets will send rookie righty Tylor Megill (0-0, 4.15 ERA) to the mound to face off against Braves right-hander Charlie Morton (7-3, 3.68 ERA). First pitch is set for 7:20 p.m. at Truist Park, will be broadcasted on WCBS 880 and WQBU 92.7 and can be seen on SNY and MLB Network.

Jordan Yamamoto was spotted doing some light throwing in St. Lucie via a video on Instagram. The righty is suffering from shoulder soreness and will be eligible to return from the Mets’ injury list on July 23.
Mets Double-A prospects Mark Vientos and Josh Walker have received player of the week honors and pitcher of week honors, respectively for their performances in the Double-A Northwest League with Binghamton. Vientos hit a .400 batting average with five homers this week and Walker threw six no-hit innings.
The FCL Mets opened up their season on Tuesday with a 13-7 loss to the FCL Astros. The team will play 72 games over the course of 12 weeks in the Sunshine State. Jacob Resnick of SNY has the Florida Complex League roster here.

Josh Naylor of the Indians suffered a closed fracture and dislocation of his right ankle in Sunday’s loss to the Twins, according to the team. Naylor will be further evaluated this week to determine the severeness of the injury and his timetable for return.
According to Jon Heyman of the MLB Network, there is “some progress” in talks for the White Sox to acquire D-backs infielder Eduardo Escobar. Escobar would fill in a hole at second base in Chicago after Nick Madrigal was listed on the team’s 60-day IL.
The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum has announced that Josh Rawitch will be its next president, according to a press release. Rawitch has spent 27 years in baseball, most recently as the Diamondbacks’ Senior Vice President of Content and Communications.

1969: Hall of Fame pitcher Tom Seaver becomes the Mets’ all-time win leader in a 7-3 win over the Pirates at Shea Stadium. The 24-year-old passed lefty Al Jackson who won 43 games for New York between 1962 and 1965. Seaver still holds this record at 198 wins.
1986: The White Sox trade all-time great Tom Seaver to the Red Sox for Steve Lyons in Seaver’s last season. ‘The Franchise’ went on to pitch 16 games for Boston, but did not pitch against the Mets in the 1986 World Series.
