New York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor recently joined former New York Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia and former WFAN radio host John Jastremski on Sabathia’s R2C2 podcast.

During the 40-plus minute episode, Lindor and the crew talk about his recent contract extension negotiations with the Mets, his time with the team thus far, and numerous other topics. It was a very entertaining and interesting conversation, and I definitely recommend checking it out!

Lindor of course recently signed his monster 10-year, $341 million contract extension with the Mets. When asked about how he feels having the deal done, and knowing he’ll be locked into New York for the next 10-years, Lindor said it “feels great” to finally be able to settle.

“You sign the deal and it’s like alright now I can finally buy something. I know my daughter’s going to grow up somewhere for sure. I don’t have to be moving, I don’t have to be renting anymore, thank god,” he said.

Despite the back-and-forth rumors and contradicting reports throughout the past week prior to his self-imposed Opening Day deadline, Lindor told CC and JJ that he was always “very optimistic” a deal would get done.

Lindor also made this point during his press conference on Thursday afternoon, saying, “I knew Steve (Cohen) wanted it, I knew Sandy (Alderson) wanted it. I wanted it, David (Meter) wanted it. So I knew something was gonna happen, it was just a matter of getting to that sweet spot.”

With a deal now done, Lindor figures to slot into the top of the Mets’ order for a long time coming. Throughout camp Lindor hit behind Brandon Nimmo in the second spot in the order, which is a spot he said he likes hitting in.

“I’ll hit wherever, but I like second. It allows me to be more creative, there’s more situational hitting. There’s times where there’s nobody on-base, it allows me to be a little bit more creative. But at the end of the day, I’ll do whatever I’ve gotta do,” Lindor said.

The slugger added that he likes hitting with men-on-base, because it allows him to be different up there. Lindor said, “I can have different results and still be successful. I can roll over and still be successful, I can hit a pop up and still be successful, hit a missile I’m successful.”

Lindor said two of the teammates he’s been closest with thus far are fellow Puerto Rican’s Edwin Diaz and Tomas Nido, but he added that everyone on the team has been cool, and that’s one of the reasons he decided to stay.

And of course most importantly, Lindor revealed his go-to pizza place in New York City is Prince Street Pizza. As he’s mentioned in the past, Lindor said he can eat pizza all day, and he’ll certainly have plenty of time do so over the next decade.

Well Mets fans, do you have any recommendations for the new superstar in the Big Apple?!
