The Mets have shut down their minor league instructs in Port St. Lucie after two COVID-19 tests came back positive, according to Tim Britton of The Athletic.
This shutdown should last for at least a few days, if not longer. At the moment, additional tests have not revealed any more positives beyond the initial two.
The Mets had only one brief COVID-19 issue during the shortened regular season, back in August when they had to postpone games for a few days, but they have been relatively clean and safe since then. It is not clear where this new issue originated from, or whether the two cases are players or coaches.
We will keep you updated as more details are revealed.
