Baseball America released their 2020 All-Rookie team and the Mets’ David Peterson was among the group chosen.
Peterson, 25, went 6-2 with a 3.44 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, and allowed just 36 hits in 49 2/3 innings over nine starts and one relief appearance. The former first rounder was even more impressive down the stretch, posting a 2.00 ERA in his last three starts including his first career double digit strikeout game.
The left-hander started the season in the Mets top 10 prospects and at the Mets alternate site in Brooklyn. He allowed only two runs in 5 2/3 innings during his big league debut on July 28 at Fenway.
Tigers shortstop Willi Castro took the spot on this team, but Andres Gimenez was recently placed on MLB Pipeline’s second team for 2020 rookies. The 22-year-old hit .263/.333/.398 and played strong defense at three infield spots.
