For the second straight season, Jacob deGrom has been named the National League’s Outstanding Pitcher of the Year by Major League Baseball’s Players Association.

DeGrom, 31, had a 2.43 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, 5.80 BB/K, 2.67 FIP, and a National League best 255 strikeouts over 204 innings for the Mets in 2019. He also finished second in the majors and led the National League with his 7.0 fWAR.

The right-hander entered his start on May 1 with a 4.85 ERA after his first five starts of the season. In his next 178 innings, deGrom posted a 2.07 ERA and held opponents to a .545 OPS.

DeGrom won the 2018 NL Cy Young Award getting 29 of 30 first place votes after posting a ridiculous 1.70 ERA and 9.0 fWAR.
