Morning Briefing: Mets Bring Winning Streak to San Francisco

Good morning Mets fans! On Wednesday, the Mets extended their winning streak to four as they ultimately swept the Minnesota Twins in a two-game road series.

Dominic Smith played hero ball in the seventh stroking a clutch pinch hit three-run go ahead homer to put the Mets up 5-3. In what was a close game for eight innings, the amazins’ offense would then break out to score nine more runs to win the contest 14-4.

Despite giving up two home runs, Jason Vargas produced a quality start tossing six innings of three run baseball. The veteran lefty also struck out four batters, while only allowing five hits.

Tonight, Noah Syndergaard (7-4, 4.55 ERA) looks to pick up his eighth win of the season, as the Mets head west to begin a four-game series with the recently surging San Francisco Giants, who have won 15 of their last 20. Top trade candidate Madison Bumgarner (5-7, 3.86 ERA) will take the mound against Thor.
