With the bullpen struggling as of late, Jason Vargas stepped up to pitch a complete game shutout going nine strong innings allowing five hits and striking out eight to blank the Giants lineup.
This afternoon, Zack Wheeler faces off against Giants starter Shaun Anderson in the rubber game, as the Mets look to take the series. First pitch is at 12:10 p.m. and the game will be televised on SNY.
