The Mets will begin interviewing candidates for their general manager opening on Monday, according to Mike Puma of the New York Post. Mets COO Jeff Wilpon and Assistant GM John Ricco are scheduled to conduct the first round of interviews.

Though the Mets have not publicly released the names of each candidate, multiple reports name Kim Ng, Gary LaRocque, Doug Melvin, and DeJon Watson as four of the interviewees. Jon Heyman notes that there are believed to be at least 6-8 unnamed candidates.

Ng, 49, is currently the highest-ranking female within Major League Baseball. She has held positions within the White Sox, Yankees, and Dodgers front offices where she served as high as Vice President and Assistant General Manager.

LaRocque, 65, is currently working as the director of player development for the St. Louis Cardinals and has spent 43 years in professional baseball.

Melvin, 66, has been a general manager for both the Brewers and Rangers in his career. He was the GM in Milwaukee from 2001 until the end of 2015, and has been serving as a senior advisor in the organization since then.

Watson, 52, is a former player, and he just finished his second season as the Nationals Special Assistant to the General Manager. He has played a large role in major international acquisitions for the and the Diamondbacks.

According to Anthony Dicomo of MLB.com, the team plans to go public with the names of those who earn follow-up interviews, but until then are keeping things in-house.
