New York Mets Manager Mickey Callaway said that outfielder Juan Lagares will make his spring debut on Friday after the team’s 3-2 loss to the Miami Marlins on Thursday.
Lagares has been out with a tight hamstring but recently did some running without any setbacks. He will be playing center field tomorrow. We will finally get a look at the revamped swing from Lagares after he spent the offseason working with hitting guru Craig Wallenbrock.
Juan is battling Brandon Nimmo for the starting job in center field. Nimmo has started his spring off going 3 for 9 with a double and home run.
Yoenis Cespedes will play in the field on Friday as well for the first time this spring. Cespedes went 0 for 2 in his return to the lineup on Thursday from a sore throwing shoulder.
