The New York Mets have announced that infielder Wilmer Flores will not play again this season because of a broken nose that he sustained on September 2 against the Houston Astros when he fouled a ball off his nose.

Flores. 26, finishes the 2017 season with a career high in home runs with 18 home runs, .795 OPS and six sacrifice flies.

In 362 plate appearances, Flores slashed .271/.307/.488 with 17 doubles and 54 strikeouts compared to 17 walks.

Wilmer showed off his power potential during the second half of the season with 11 home runs in only 127 at-bats after hitting seven in 209 first half at-bats.

Defensively, Flores played 55 games at third base, 29 at first and 12 at second. He rated negatively at each defensive position this year including -8 defensive runs saved at third base.
