New York Mets captain David Wright talked to the media this afternoon to discuss his recent rotator cuff surgery on his throwing arm.

Among the questions asked was if he would consider managing when his playing career was over, to which he replied with a chuckle, “No, I don’t think so.”

Current Mets manager Terry Collins’ contract expires at the end of the 2017 season and there has been no decision on his status for 2018 yet.

Wright also went on to say he currently has no plans of retiring and that getting shoulder surgery was about quality of life past baseball as well as hopefully getting back on the field.

He also realizes that his days at third base may be over, saying he is open to playing another position.

Wright hasn’t played in a major league game since May 27, 2016. He is still under contract with the Mets through the 2020 season.

On the lighter side during the interview, Wright said this “There’s a lot of questions like I’m dying. I’m not dying.”
