Good Morning Mets Fans. The New York Metropolitans (7-7) look to stop the bleeding tonight as they continue their series with the Philadelphia Phillies (5-8). Robert Gsellman will toe the rubber for the Mets and will be opposed by Vince Velasquez of the Phillies.

Yesterday, Zack Wheeler pitched just five innings and allowed only one run on three hits while striking out a season-high seven batters and walking two. He took the no-decision in a game where his pitch count quickly rose, causing him to have a shortened outing. The team would go on to lose in 10 innings to the Phillies by a score of 6-2. Jose Reyes continues to find ways to let down the Mets this season as a costly error on a pop up allowed the Phillies the opportunity to tie the game in the eighth inning. A bright note from last night’s game, Josh Smoker tossed a scoreless inning with two strikeouts and now has thrown 6.2 scoreless innings with nine strikeouts in his last five games.

Both Seth Lugo and Steven Matz will begin to test out their arms today for the first time since being shut down in spring training. The two will look to start a throwing program with the hope of being back sooner than later though no timetable has been placed on either player’s return at this point.
